About Us
Global Change Information Network (GCIN) is a non-profit foundation dedicated to distributing scientific knowledge about global change in easily understandable formats. GCIN was established in Sweden and founded by Mr Torvald Jacobsson, Mr Michael Stenberg and Ms Karin Åström.
Over 10 000 scientists within the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme, IGBP, has set out to spread their knowledge to the public through close co-operation with GCIN. A unique agreement between the scientists in the IGBP as well as the International Council for Science (ICSU) and GCIN makes this possible.
As the environmental change increasingly has come into focus of debate and policy, it has also turned into a battlefield of competing interests – political, economical and social. Making the most accurate information on this subject available and understandable to defined target groups outside the scientific community is the prime objective of GCIN.
