IGBP
The International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) was established by the International Council for Science (ICSU), to strengthen the understanding of the interaction between humanity and the Earth’s environment by way of a multidisciplinary research programme. IGBP presently involves 10 000 scientists from all over the world. Through this network, the IGBP gathers information from scientific monitoring of the Earth system. IGBP then reviews, analyses and compiles it to state-of-the-art scientific information on global change.
The IGBP is run and supervised by the International Council for Science (ICSU), the common body of the Scientific Academies of the world. IGBP is part of the Earth System Science Partnership, ESSP.
IIIEE
An understanding of pollution prevention, waste minimisation, design for environment and environmental management has been absent from many organisations making policy, production and environmental protection decisions. In 1994, as a response to this situation, the Swedish Parliament established the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at Lund University.
The IIIEE now has an international program reaching over sixty countries through its Master's Degree in Environmental Management and Policy and an extensive and significant research program.
Since 1999 the IIIEE has also been working with education of young students between 14 and 18 years old especially through the Young Masters Program (YMP) and the Global Environmental Youth Convention (GEYC).
